How Tubb Ventures Limited (SkyVector Drone Solutions) handles personal information. Last updated 21 October 2026.
Who we are
This privacy policy explains how Tubb Ventures Limited, trading as SkyVector Drone Solutions (NZBN 9429053358295) (“SkyVector”, “we”, “us”), based in Te Awamutu, Waikato, New Zealand, collects, uses, stores and shares personal information. We follow the Privacy Act 2020 and its Information Privacy Principles.
Privacy officer
Our privacy officer is Mike Tubb. Contact: mike@skyvector.co.nz or 027 428 9936. Please get in touch with any privacy question, request or complaint.
What we collect
- Contact details and message content you give us through our contact form, email, phone or text (name, email, phone, business name, what you need).
- Job details: site address, access instructions, property owner or occupier details, and anything you tell us about the property.
- Billing details needed to quote and invoice (we do not store card numbers).
- Website data: our host Netlify keeps basic server logs (such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and time). We use Netlify Analytics, which works from these server logs and does not use tracking cookies. Our pages also load fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser shares your IP address with Google when a page loads.
- Drone imagery and data captured during a job (see “Drone imagery” below).
You do not have to give us your information, but if you do not, we may not be able to quote or carry out the work.
Why we collect it and how we use it
We use personal information to answer enquiries, prepare quotes, plan and fly jobs safely and legally (including airspace, site hazard and consent checks under Civil Aviation Rules Part 101), deliver reports and data, invoice and keep business and tax records, and understand how our website is used so we can improve it. We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for marketing without your agreement.
Drone imagery and people on the ground
Our flights are planned to capture the property or asset we have been engaged to inspect or map, not people. We fly under Civil Aviation Rules Part 101, which means we do not fly over people or property without the consent of those people or the property owner or occupier, and we keep within the other Part 101 limits.
- Before a job we confirm with the client that they own or control the site, or have permission from the owner or occupier, and we ask them to let neighbours or people on site know where that is relevant.
- We avoid capturing neighbouring properties and identifiable people where we can. Where people, vehicle plates or neighbouring properties appear incidentally and are not needed for the job, we blur, crop or delete that content before it is shared or published.
- Imagery is used only to deliver the job, unless the client agrees in writing to another use, such as an example on our website or social media. We do not publish images showing identifiable people or private homes without permission.
- If you think we have captured an image of you or your property, contact our privacy officer and we will check, and where appropriate delete or blur it.
Where your information is stored, and overseas disclosure
We store information using reputable service providers. Some are based overseas: our website host Netlify (including Netlify Forms and Netlify Analytics) is based in the United States, and some email, file storage and font services may also store data outside New Zealand. These providers handle the information on our behalf and under their own security and privacy terms. Under the Privacy Act, sending information to a provider who holds it only for us is not a disclosure, and we stay responsible for it. If we ever need to disclose information to another organisation overseas, we will only do so where the Privacy Act (IPP12) allows, for example where comparable safeguards apply or you have agreed after being told the protections may differ.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information and job imagery from loss, misuse and unauthorised access, including password-protected accounts, two-factor authentication where available, and sharing client data only through access-controlled links.
Who we share it with
We share information only as needed to do the job or where the law requires it: for example with the client who engaged us (and people they authorise), our service providers, our insurer or professional advisers, Airways or the Civil Aviation Authority where an aviation rule or incident requires it, and the police or regulators if legally required.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not go ahead are deleted within 12 months. Job records, invoices and records we must keep by law (including tax records, generally 7 years) are kept for as long as required. We keep raw drone imagery for 12 months after delivery so we can reissue it if you need, unless we agree otherwise, then delete it securely. We keep imagery longer only where the client asks, or where it is needed for a dispute or legal reason.
Access and correction
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it. Email mike@skyvector.co.nz. We will respond as soon as we can and within 20 working days. There is no charge to ask. If we decline a request we will tell you why.
Privacy breaches
If a privacy breach happens that has caused or is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and the affected people as soon as practicable, as the Privacy Act requires.
Complaints
Please contact our privacy officer first so we can try to put things right. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
