3D Mapping & Modelling

High-resolution orthomosaics and 3D models for construction, earthworks, and land development planning.

Aerial view of a construction site for 3D mapping

Who it is for

  • Builders and earthworks contractors needing accurate site models
  • Surveyors wanting a fast aerial base layer
  • Developers comparing progress against design
  • Councils and consultants reviewing accessible terrain

Flight overview

  • Ground control discussion (bring your own GCPs if required)
  • Grid flight for photogrammetry coverage
  • Overlap set for reliable reconstruction
  • Processing into orthomosaic and textured mesh / point cloud as scoped

Deliverables

  • Georeferenced orthomosaic
  • 3D model or point cloud (format agreed at quote)
  • Elevation / DSM outputs where included in scope
  • Shareable preview for stakeholders

Turnaround

Small sites often within a week; larger or denser models 1–2 weeks. Processing time depends on area and resolution.

Coverage

Waikato primary. North Island jobs welcomed — travel may apply.

Frequently asked questions

What weather do you need?

Steady light and low wind help. Rain, low cloud, and strong gusts stop photogrammetry flights. We plan a weather window and keep you updated if it slips.

Do you need ground control points (GCPs)?

For survey-grade accuracy, yes — you or your surveyor supply GCPs. Without them we can still deliver a useful visual model, but absolute accuracy will be lower. We agree the accuracy target at quote.

What formats do I get?

Typically a georeferenced orthomosaic plus a 3D mesh or point cloud in formats agreed at quote (e.g. GeoTIFF, OBJ, LAS). Elevation / DSM outputs are included when scoped.

How long does processing take?

Small sites often within a week after flight; larger or denser models 1–2 weeks. Area, overlap, and resolution drive the clock — we give a realistic range before you book.

Part 101 — what sites are tricky?

Busy active construction yards, sites near people, and controlled airspace need careful planning. We only fly when we can keep visual line of sight and clear separation under Part 101.
